Boil Water Notice Rescinded
February 23, 2021
On February 16, 2021, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the Maxwell Water Supply Corporation public water system, PWS ID 0280003, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of February 23, 2021.
If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact General Manager, Justin Ivicic at 512-357-6253. 216 Main Street, Maxwell, TX 78656.

We are back to normal capacity and pressures throughout our system, chlorine levels have also stabilized. Samples were delivered to the lab yesterday and I was hoping to get results today, but it looks like it will be in the morning. Hopefully tomorrow morning we can lift the boil water notice.
Some have reported air and debris in their water. This was caused by the dewatering of the system. It is totally normal in an event like we have experienced. This will be an issue in the days to come. We will begin to flush lines and problem areas as they are reported in the coming days. Air will make the water appear white in color, almost like milk.
I really appreciate all the encouraging comments, emails, and texts. I follow other water systems on Facebook and their customers were not as understanding and appreciative as you guys have been. You can tell it’s taking a toll on their staff.
Hopefully in the morning my next up will be a rescind of the boil water notice.

Good morning, our system is filling nicely and we are almost at full capacity. Everyone should have normal pressure, although we are repairing a leak on Dickerson Rd right now. So those on Dickerson will have little to no pressure for a couple hours.
Our plan for Monday is to monitor our chlorine levels throughout the system. If they are adequate, we will take samples to the lab and hopefully be able to rescind the boil water notice by Wednesday.
I am still trying to secure bottled water to distribute, but so far I’ve been unsuccessful. Please follow city and county Facebook page for their distribution schedule.
Like I stated before, everyone should be at normal pressure. If you have no water please call/text 512-757-4104 to report it.

As of now all customers should be receiving some sort of service. Our levels are still climbing slowly, so please conserve as much as possible. Those at higher elevations may still be seeing lower than normal pressure.
Our pumping capacity is still very limited, but with repairs that have been made over the last week things should normalize soon. God willing nothing else fails.
Reminder, we are still under boil water notice. Although there is no evidence that our system has any contamination, we are mandated by the state until we can get samples to a lab for testing, which may be a challenge in itself as they will be overloaded with samples from all the other water systems.
If you still have NO service, please call/text 512-757-4104. Please do not call with low pressure.

Good news!!
You all should start seeing some water by this evening.
We were able to get our well up and running around 2:00pm today. It is currently producing 750 gallons per min and putting this directly into the system. Also CRWA was able to increase their pumping capacity as well. If all goes well and as it’s looking, fingers crossed, we should be at full or near full pressure by midnight. I’m hoping that today was the turning point in this event and we can work towards normal operations in the coming days.
We are still required to boil water before consumption. My hope is that area labs will start to take in samples next week.
Excuse any typos!

I can slowly see system building up a little pressure as of now. We bypassed the standpipe on State Park Road to allow water to flow to the most eastern edges of our system. So Spanish Oaks, Arcon, and Bugtussle areas may see some pressure again this morning. We are waiting on a contractor to show to assist in the start up of our Edwards Aquifer Well. Once this is accomplished some additional pressure will be restored, starting at the Post Rd - IH 35 areas and will begin to build eastward towards SH21 then Maxwell areas.
CRWA is replacing some motors on pumps that were put out of service during the storm. No timeframe was given from them when pumping capacity on their end will be increased.
We plan for today to be the day that most customers will see some limited service to their homes or businesses. Remember as service is restored burst pipes in some customers homes will become more of an issue. Please be mindful throughout the day and locate the customer shut off valve near your meter ahead of time in case you need to shut off your service. We are receiving calls from customers with leaks to come disconnect service. I apologize, but at this time we are not able to respond for the calls for service.
We have driven the system to look for water main leaks and have not found any as of yet. As the snow and ice begin to melt it may appear as a leak with the water running through ditches. We would appreciate the calls to report these, and they will be investigated. If a main is found leaking at this time, it will be located and marked then isolated from the system and set up for a future repair the coming days. Our goal is to provide limited service to as many customers as possible so isolating the leaks will allow us to provide service to others down stream.
Also please keep conserving, it is making a huge difference. Only use the water available to you for life sustaining necessities and remember we are still in a boil water notice.
And keep posting those that have service with your address or general location. This is helping us understand what is going on in the field.
Please excuse any typos as I’m on my phone posting these.

We have seen little to no improvement in pumping capacity from CRWA overnight and to this point today. No timeframe has been given to us on when their capacity will improve.
Today we have been working to thaw out one of our Edwards Aquifer wells and we were successful. Although this is good news and much progress, this well uses system pressure to send water down the well casing to lubricate the rotating parts that go into the aquifer where the pump is located. As you all know there is no pressure in the system to accomplish this. If stared without a prelude cycle, it could cause a catastrophic failure. I have reached out to a contractor and they have availability to bring a service tomorrow morning with lubing equipment to get the well up and running. Once started it will not be allowed to stop until system pressure is restored.
We are all doing our best to get some service back to all customers. If you do have water at your location, please conserve as best you can. This will allow the system to pressure up and allow water to reach more customers. Our demand at this time is incredibly high right now with the customers that do have service.
If you need assistance in getting potable water, please reach out to your local government as they have the resources to acquire mass amounts of water.
Also, we are not at this time able to respond to cut off customers water because of burst pipes in homes. Please locate the customer shut off valve for your service. This is usually located on the home side of the meter.
This is a VERY stressful time for everyone. I understand everyone’s frustration! It would help very much to know who has service and your address. Please follow us on Facebook for updates.

Our water provider has begun pumping again at a limited capacity. Some customers will begin to regain some sort of service. We are yet to know who all will get this service. Areas identified with water was Reedville along 1984, Kogler Hills subdivision, some areas along HWY 80. We cannot guarantee that this will continue or to improve.
We have been put on a list to receive a generator from Texas Department of Emergency Management. This generator will allow us to run our well field with uninterrupted electrical power and give us an alternate source.
We understand you must protect your homes from freezing by dripping faucets, but please try and conserve the best you can. We are doing our best to get through this unprecedented winter storm. A lot of lessons are being learned and will use this to make our system more reliable and resilient!
February 17, 2021
Please be prepared for an extended system wide outage. Fill up your bathtubs with any water you may have to use for flushing. We do not expect improvement in service until the weekend. Please reach out to local and county government for any resources they may have to offer.

Boil Water Notice for Community Public Water Systems
February 16, 2021
Due to low storage levels and declining distribution pressures, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the Maxwell Water Supply Corporation, PWS ID 0280003 public water system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc.). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.
Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact General Manager, Justin Ivicic at Maxwell Water Supply Corporation, 216 Main Street Maxwell, Tx., 512-357-6253.
